Jiskoot has supplied a mobile two-stream fuel oil blender to Fujairah Marine Services for BP, Falalah Port. The trailer-mounted system is capable of blending at flow rates up to 357m3/hr.
The in-line blender will blend heavy fuel oil (HFO) and light (gasoil and diesel) in real-time to the required specifications and accuracy. The control system uses a Solartron viscometer installed in the blend header to provide a real-time viscosity measurement, which is used by the Jiskoot controller to perform ‘viscosity trim’. This function adjusts the blend ratio to guarantee the required final product quality and minimise the use of expensive light products. The blender produces the final product to a target viscosity at the reference 50 degrees centigrade and can produce automated delivery notes using the supplied printer. This enables the blender to form a key component of the process.
The system includes a mixer mounted within the blended product outlet to ensure viscosity measurement is accurate and the product supplied is homogeneous. In the event of potential process errors such as such as lack of pumping power, filter blockage or loss in ‘head’ at tanks the controller will maintain the blend quality and raise the appropriate alarms
The fully piped and wired mobile skid mounted two-stream blender was designed to use the minimum possible space on a four-wheel trailer. A diesel powered electrical generator to supply all system power is mounted on the skid, which has steering and an A-frame tow bar.
A Jiskoot InSight blender controller was mounted within an IP65 enclosure mounted at the skid edge for operator control. The controller touch screen interface offers ease of use and sophisticated configuration options for supervisor and engineers. It can be configured using a simple menu structure with clear prompting and is aided by a context sensitive help.
